The Important of coconut in my Banaban community

Coconut is very important in the Banaban community because it brings a lot of out put.

In the Island of the Banaban community, it has four villagers. Majority are farmers, they also used coconut for copra, this is where they earn income through selling it.

In the olden days coconut was the main food of our ancestors with fish but now are days, coconut has being used to produced a Pure Banaban Virgin Oil.

The founder of this business is Terikano Takesau, also the Manager. The business started in 2010.

The main purpose of the business or the project is to helps the women to utilize natural resources i.e. is coconut which is abundance in the Island to initiate and generate income

The products that used from the coconuts is the Virgin Oil. It very vital in the Island because it helps to provide income to the labors also the locals.

The products were sent to Namale coastal resorts near Savusavu, Dhayram, and Jangal Lal ltd and to local domestic during the road show.

Hence, coconuts are very important in other ways maybe in cooking, beverages, or in terms of herbal medicine but the Women association from Rabi Island has come out with ideas to make use of the coconuts on the Island to make something out of it to generate income. Hence, the coconut has a vital role by producing virgin oil by exporting.
